Black Labrador Retriever Retrieving Birds
In this video we are in the field watching black one-year-old Labrador Retriever retrieving ducks for the first time ever.
A training assistant is throwing dead ducks in different directions to teach the dog to pay attention where the bird lands.
Notice how the handler blows the whistle every time the dog picks up the bird and starts to bring it back to the handler. That sound is called a bridge, telling the dog that he is doing the right thing. In a closer distance the bridge can be a clicker and it is commonly called clicker training.
You can read more about Clicker Training in a Critical Dog Training News’ article “How Does Clicker Training Work“.
